History Of Gin and Tonic

The story began with India by British Army. The cocktail was introduced by the army of the British East India Company in India . Malaria was a big problem in india on that time. In the 1700s Scottish doctor George Cleghorn studied that quinine , to prevent Malaria.

Tonic water contains quinine. In the early 19th century British officers in India took to adding a mixture of water, sugar, lime and gin to the quinine in order make the drink more pleasent & tasty. Since it is no longer used as an antimalarial, tonic water today contains less quinine , it is usually sweetened and is much less bitter. The drink is getting famous all over the world. Gin and Tonic is also called as G&T.

Recipe of Gin and tonic

The best gin and tonic is made with a quality gin, especially those with a citrus flavor and great blend of botanicals. Gin and Tonic Ingredients:-

  • Gin – 45 ml.
  • Tonic water-  for top up
  • Lime wedges-  2-3 wedges/mint/cucumber
  • Ice cubes – 2-3 cubs
Preparation:

Add gin to a highball glass filled with ice. Squeeze in lime wedges according to taste , then add them to glass. Add tonic water; stir to combine
